You asked for it. We built it.
Collections are now live in Recipe Shelf. Group your recipes however you want - by cuisine, by weeknight rotation, by that dinner party you're planning next month. No more scrolling through your entire library to find the three pasta recipes you actually make on repeat.
Here's how it works.
What are Collections?
Collections are custom groups you create for your recipes. Think of them like folders, but better. A single recipe can live in multiple collections at once.
Your grandma's lasagna can be in "Italian", "Family Favourites", and "Sunday Cooking" all at the same time. No duplicates. No copying. Just one recipe, as many collections as you want.
Creating a Collection
Tap the Collections tab, then hit the "+" button. Give it a name. That's it.
You can also add a description if you want - something like "Recipes the kids will actually eat" or "Date night dishes" - but it's optional. The collection is ready to use the moment you name it.
Adding Recipes to a Collection
There are two ways to add recipes.
From the collection itself: Open any collection and tap "Add Recipes". You'll see a picker with all your saved recipes. Tap the ones you want, hit confirm, done. You can add as many as you like in one go.
From a recipe's detail page: When you're viewing any recipe, you can add it to a collection right from there. Handy when you're browsing your recipes and think "this one belongs in my meal prep list".
Managing Your Collections
Each collection shows you how many recipes are inside and displays a cover image from one of the recipes. You can rename a collection, update its description, or delete it entirely.
Deleting a collection doesn't delete your recipes. They stay in your library. The collection is just the grouping - your recipes are always safe.
A Few Ideas to Get You Started
By meal type
"Weeknight Dinners", "Meal Prep Sundays", "Quick Lunches". The categories you already have in your head but never wrote down.
By event
"Thanksgiving 2026", "Sarah's Birthday BBQ", "Camping Trip". Plan a menu, then cook your way through it.
By ingredient
"Chicken Recipes", "What to Do With Zucchini", "Pantry Staples". Great for those weeks where you're building meals around what you already have.
By source
"Mom's Recipes", "Budget Bytes Favourites", "TikTok Finds". Keep track of where your best recipes came from.
By diet
"Vegetarian Week", "Low Carb", "Dairy Free". Group recipes that fit specific dietary needs without having to filter every time.
What's Next
Collections are just the beginning. We're working on favouriting recipes within collections so you can highlight your go-to picks inside each group. Sort and filter options for collections are coming too, matching the same patterns you already use on the main recipes page.
